Diamond or Pearl?

If there’s only one piece of jewellery you can own for your entire life, would you rather want a diamond or a pearl ?

I think that many of us struggled choosing our first piece of jewellery, especially when deciding the type of jewellery for meaningful events like weddings. If you ask me the exact same question, to choose between diamond and pearl, the answer will definitely be diamonds. Why? Let me explain to you from different angles.

Unlike diamonds, pearls are quite challenging to match with various styles. Its mature and elegant attributes easily makes an overall look old-fashioned even after an abortive matching. As well, clothes that go with pearl jewellery are rather limited. The “pearl concept” might be more suitable for people with obvious female characteristics. For instance, people who have an angular face, like many of the international models, are less likely to look in harmony with delicate and small pearl jewellery.  More edgy styles can fail to bring out the elegance of the pearl jewellery.

However, when you think about diamonds, it is much more effortless while combining with different dressing codes and allows you to create your personal style by different shapes, colours and diverse designs. Furthermore, the string of pearl necklaces is harder to wear for younger ladies under the age of  40, especially the one with diameter over 10mm. This can be due to the long luser that brings the looks as regal as it can be there, three, therefore it usually doesn’t fit for the young generations. Besides, there are an incredibly large amount of different types of  pearls in the market that have been used to design jewellery, they can be divided into akoya, south sea pearls, conch, and baroque, etc… It won’t be easy to find a trustworthy channel to purchase and the quality for a single pearl cannot be guaranteed.

For diamond jewellery, like in Tim&Co., we entrust each of the diamonds to the most reliable independent laboratory in terms of diamond grading: the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). The diamonds are carefully analyzed by several gemologists verifying the diamond’s authenticity and evaluating the characteristics of the stone according to the 4 Cs (Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat). Each stone receives its certificate of authenticity from the GIA and when ordering your creation at Tim & Co, you will also receive a Certificate of Authenticity guaranteeing the responsible sourcing of our natural diamonds, following the Kimberley Process.

More than anything, diamonds last forever and pearls can be corroded. Pearls are bred by pearl mussels, so the pearl itself and its luster have a certain life span. Once the pearl is exposed to the air for a long time, its nacre will be continuously oxidized. Thus if you consider purchasing jewellery as an investment, diamond will be your best choice than pearl.

After listening to the reason behind, I believe now you can definitely answer the initial question in a breeze!
