Jewellery storage ideas

Knowing exactly where to store your jewellery can be challenging. We explore many options but somehow our necklaces or bracelets keep on getting tangled! We want our jewellery to be well stored and preserved and depending on what you wear, we might have the solution for you.

Let’s talk about containers. Containers can be an excellent solution if you don’t have many pieces of jewellery. These plastic containers can have different compartments where you can divide singularly each piece of jewellery. You can find these containers in plastic which are very easy to clean but if you want a more eco-friendly solution you can also find them made out of wood. Of course, this is very helpful if you have small jewellery that isn’t rigid. Of course, every compartment will be different in size but unless you have a lot of space available, jewellery that is rigid and comes in one piece, for example hoop earrings or bracelets, won’t be able to fit. These containers can be especially useful if you have drawers where you want to put your jewellery inside.

Secondly are classic Jewellery boxes. When we’re talking about jewellery boxes, we mean the ones with different specialised compartments in them and are covered by soft fabrics such as velvet or silk. These are the best to avoid scratches on your jewellery and to preserve them especially rings and earrings. The downside to these is that usually necklaces, and bracelets will be loose inside the box. This increases the risk of them tangling especially if you move the box around a lot or if you are not careful when you place them inside the box. Just like an individual fabric bag where to place your jewellery inside to preserve it, these boxes will do the same job on a bigger scale.

Lastly, we have displays where you can hang your jewellery inside. You can find many different types of these displays, the most common ones being in the shape of a tree where you can hang your earrings or necklaces, so they won’t tangle or touch each other. These of course have a limited amount of space, but you could also try different types of displays that are bigger and can be hung on a wall, for example. It’s a little bit harder to place rings on these but not impossible!

We strongly suggest you try and use a combination of all these options as each one has their strengths and weaknesses. There are also many other options we haven’t explored but these were the ones we found were the most popular, most used, and best according to us.

If you have the resources, we would like to encourage you to try and make these as a DIY project. It is fun and who knows your own personal needs better than yourself? So go out there and find your personally favourite jewellery storage method so you can keep your Tim & Co. jewellery always shining!
